Real Madrid legend snubbed Kylian Mbappé in voting for French Player of the Year

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé was snubbed by a Blancos legend in the voting process for the French Player of the Year.

That’s according to Goal, who point towards Karim Benzema as the player in question.

The name of frontman Mbappé has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in his home country of France across the day to date.

This comes after the 25-year-old was announced as Les Bleus’ Player of the Year, for the 4th time in his career.

Mbappé beat out competition from Arsenal star William Saliba to clinch the award, racking up 56 votes to his fellow countryman’s 51.

As alluded to above, though, the Real Madrid summer signing’s case for the accolade was not aided by an ex-Blancos frontman.

This comes amid confirmation that Karim Benzema did not include Mbappé in his top-3 in the voting process.

Instead, the Al-Ittihad star opted for Eduardo Camavinga, Bradley Barcola and Warren Zaïre-Emery.

It is worth noting that Mbappé has now joined Benzema in 2nd on the all-time list of Player of the Year honours in France.
