Real Madrid identify 3 targets to reinforce Carlo Ancelotti’s options at right-back

A fresh insight into the plans of the transfer team at La Liga giants Real Madrid has been provided late this evening.

The info comes courtesy of Estadio Deportivo, who point towards Real as having identified the right-back spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad as being in need of reinforcement.

Dani Carvajal, of course, remains the undisputed first-choice on the right of Los Blancos’ backline.

Beyond the experienced Spaniard, though, the only other real option comes in the form of Lucas Vázquez – a winger by trade – who is expected to move on in the summer.

Florentino Pérez and co, as a result, have already begun scouring the market for a replacement.

And, as per the aforementioned ED, amid their search, three names have quickly made their way to the top of Real’s wishlist.

The trio in question? Chelsea standout Reece James, Sevilla’s Juanlu Sánchez, and Girona sensation Yan Couto.

Of these targets, the first, for obvious reasons, looks the most unlikely addition, continuing to act as Chelsea’s captain despite what has marked another injury-plagued campaign to date.

Juanlu, though, could be brought in for a reasonable fee, owing to the €15 million release clause in his Sevilla contract.

And yet, Couto is the most likely of the three to ultimately make his way to Spain’s capital with a view to next season.

This comes with the Brazilian – who has not been shy in admitting his admiration for Real Madrid – set to see his loan terms with Girona come to an end upon the season’s close.

With just a year to run on his deal with Manchester City, a Santiago Bernabéu switch could therefore prove the best solution for all parties involved.
