Real Madrid’s fitness concerns for Champions League clash with Liverpool at Anfield

Real Madrid have three doubts for their trip to Anfield on Tuesday, report AS.

Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Aurélien Tchouaméni didn’t train with the rest of their team-mates on Sunday and their participation in Tuesday’s match is far from guaranteed.

It remains to be seen what happens in the final training session ahead of the European clash, but the fact that none of the three could train two days before the game is not good news for Los Blancos.

Madrid remain hopeful that they will make it for the clash, although none of them will be 100 per cent fit if they are to play.

In the case of Benzema, the hope is based on Sunday’s training session, in which he worked on his own. He didn’t take part in the small-sided game, which indicates that he has not yet recovered from the discomfort with which he left the game against Elche at the Bernabéu. Without Benzema, Rodrygo is likely to play up front and lead the line.

Kroos has been out for several days with gastroenteritis, which has caused him to miss two games (Elche and Osasuna). In the case of Tchouaméni, he was left out of the squad for Saturday’s win over Osasuna in Pamplona due to flu on the day of the game and therefore missed training on Sunday.

If Kroos and Tchouaméni miss the trip or are not fit to start, it will be likely be Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Ceballos who come into the midfield. Both players are currently in great form for their club.
