The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have made the call not to afford a contract renewal offer to a long-time member of the club’s defensive ranks.
The player in question? Dani Carvajal.
Stopper Carvajal is for his part of course in the midst of a difficult individual campaign to date.
Owing to a combination of fitness woes and the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold, the 34-year-old has been restricted to something of a bit-part role.
All told, across all competitions, Carvajal has managed just eight starts.
In turn, it should perhaps not come as a great surprise to learn of Real Madrid preparing for life without their legendary full-back.
As per a report from Spanish football insider Matteo Moretto:
‘Dani Carvajal’s contract expires on June 30 this year, and Real Madrid has already decided not to offer him a renewal.’
News of Carvajal’s impending departure comes fresh off the Spaniard being condemned to a fresh spell on the sidelines with a fractured toe.
