Real Madrid have date for official unveiling of new Santiago Bernabéu stadium

According to AS, Real Madrid hope to inaugurate the new Santiago Bernabéu in December, with Wednesday 14 December 2022 down as the date of the official unveiling to coincide with the stadium’s 75th birthday.

This date has a drawback, however, as four days later, on 18 December, the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be played, and some Madrid players could be involved. The club is therefore considering holding an institutional event on 14 December, and once the World Cup is over, organising a match to inaugurate the new stadium.

On 14 December 1947, the famous stadium was officially opened with a friendly between Los Blancos and the Portuguese side Os Belenenses.

In terms of financial figures, the club expects the new stadium to bring in around 150-200 million euros per season.
