Real Madrid field team without Spanish players for the first time in their history

Real Madrid fielded a team without Spanish players in an official match for the first time in their history against Villarreal in La Liga on Saturday, according to Relevo.

Carlo Ancelotti named the following team against Villarreal:

Courtois – Militao, Rudiger, Alaba, Mendy – Tchouaméni, Kroos, Modric – Valverde, Benzema, Vinícius.

In the 64th minute with the game at 1-1, Madrid manager Ancelotti introduced Spanish player Lucas Vázquez, who replaced France international Aurelién Tchouaméni.

Yéremi Pino and Gerard Moreno were on the score sheet for Quique Setién’s side as they beat Real Madrid 2-1 at home.

Karim Benzema scored Madrid’s goal from the penalty spot in the 59th minute.

The defeat to the Yellow Submarine was the 4,436th official match in the history of Real Madrid. The club was founded in 1902.
