Real Madrid are favourites to sign Bayern Munich’s versatile defender David Alaba, according to The Athletic.
The European champions would like to keep Alaba at the club, however, Madrid are ready to provide the salary the Austrian international is demanding and a departure is becoming more and more likely.
The 28-year-old can play at left-back, centre-back, and in midfield. Real, like most clubs, have been hit hard by the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, but would reportedly be top of the list to land the signing of Alaba on a free once his contract expires at the end of this season. If a deal does occur, it will happen in the summer and not in the coming January transfer window.
