Real Madrid dealt late Fran García blow ahead of Atlético showdown

Real Madrid have been left to sweat over yet another member of the club’s defensive ranks, ahead of their upcoming showdown with arch rivals Atlético Madrid.

That’s according to Diario AS, who have this evening provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

Real have of course been forced to deal with a whole host of personnel issues in the buildup to Sunday’s derby.

This comes after Antonio Rüdiger picked up a fitness problem in midweek, adding to the crisis at the heart of Los Blancos’ backline.

And as much was then added to yet further upon Aurélien Tchouaméni being shown his fifth yellow card of the season, suspended for the latest round of fixtures as a result.

Safe to say, then, that another blow on the injury front is just about the last thing which all associated with Real Madrid would have been hoping for, on the eve of such a crucial outing.

But, as alluded to above, on Saturday, precisely that is what has been confirmed.

As per the aforementioned AS, Fran García took a blow to his left ankle during a training session earlier today.

The left-back has since seen the problem swell quickly, bandaged up by the Valdebebas medical staff as a result.

Should the swelling not have cleared up by Sunday night, it therefore looks unlikely that García will be at the disposal of boss Ancelotti.
