La Liga giants Real Madrid have early this week been afforded some altogether less than welcome news on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that a member of the club’s midfield ranks has been condemned to a spell on the sidelines.
The player in question? Dani Ceballos.
Spanish international Ceballos, for his part, was afforded a rare starting berth by head coach Carlo Ancelotti on Sunday, as Los Blancos locked horns with Real Betis in a La Liga clash.
The former Arsenal man was ultimately hooked from proceedings midway through the 2nd-half, however, amid evident discomfort with his ankle.
And ensuing medical tests have since revealed a significant injury…
As per a report from the reliable Mario Cortegana of The Athletic:
‘Ceballos suffered a grade III sprain with ligament damage to his right ankle yesterday.’
The 28-year-old, as a result, is expected to spend somewhere between five and eight weeks on the sidelines, his return pencilled in for, most likely, late October.
