Madrid had faced competition from Liverpool, but the France international wants to join Los Blancos.
The transfer fee is set to cost Madrid around €80 million and the final details of the deal are currently being worked on.
The 22-year-old is set to become the club’s second signing ahead of the new season after Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger recently put pen to paper on a deal until 2026.
