Real Madrid-bound Kylian Mbappé sits out PSG training after horror tackle vs Brest

An update on the wellbeing of chief Real Madrid summer target Kylian Mbappé has come to the fore late this evening.

This comes after the prolific frontman set pulses racing across Spain’s capital, during Paris Saint-Germain’s latest outing on Wednesday.

Mbappé, as expected, was included from the off, upon PSG playing host to Brest in the Last-16 of the French Cup 24 hours ago.

En route to an eventual 3-1 triumph – during which he opened the scoring – however, the 25-year-old was the victim of a horror challenge on the part of Brest’s Lilian Brassier.

After attempting to turn on the halfway line midway through the 2nd-half, Mbappé was scythed down by way of a dangerous lunge onto his left calf:

The explosive attacker, somehow, managed to dust himself down to see out the rest of the clash, but the effects of Brassier’s tackle are still being felt.

As revealed by Mundo Deportivo, Mbappé was not present in training alongside the rest of Luis Enrique’s squad on Thursday.

After being put through a series of medical tests, it was decided that it would be best for the France international to sit out.

He is, in turn, expected to miss PSG’s weekend meeting with Lille, too.

It remains to be seen whether Mbappé is fit enough to face off against Real Sociedad in the Champions League next week, but, whether he is or isn’t, La Liga rivals Real Madrid will no doubt be keeping a close eye on the situation.
