Real Madrid-bound Endrick speaks out on Pelé comparisons

Incoming Real Madrid starlet Endrick has this weekend addressed early comparisons between he and one of world football’s greatest-ever players.

Endrick, for his part, is fresh off another evening to remember on Saturday.

Introduced off the bench in Brazil’s friendly meeting with Mexico, the 17-year-old notched the game’s winner deep into injury-time, courtesy of a brilliant header.

Despite his tender years, this marked Endrick’s third goal in three appearances for his country, as the frontman continues to build a name for himself as Brazilian football’s next superstar.

Not only that, but his latest strike came in his very first outing draped in the Seleção’s iconic no.9 jersey.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of Saturday’s outing, it therefore came as little surprise when the early comparisons being drawn between he and some of Brazilian football’s all-time greats was put to Endrick himself.

The departing Palmeiras starlet showed his maturity with his response, though, adamant that the chatter surrounding his likeness to Pelé is nothing short of ‘crazy’:

“I always had it in my head that you guys (the media) create crazy things. When I was younger, when I was 16, I used to look at social media a lot. And they kept comparing me with Vitor Roque, they kept comparing me with Pelé. You guys are crazy, man. Pelé was Pelé.”
