Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti leaves door open for three players

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has provided a positive update on trio Rafa Marín, Antonio Blanco and Miguel Gutiérrez, who he believes could have a future at the club.

Marín, 21, was sent on loan to Alavés to get more regular game time and has impressed this season. Los Blancos value the Spaniard’s experience in La Liga and this could earn him a spot in Ancelotti’s squad next season.

The Italian head coach wants to bolster the depth in the centre-back position, after he was left short of options in defence due to an injury crisis midway through the season. Marín is therefore expected to stay in the Spanish capital next season to act as a rotational option.

Blanco joined Deportivo Alavés on a permanent basis and the midfielder has been equally impressive this season. However, the La Liga title winners retain 50% of Blanco’s sporting rights and also have a buy-back clause, which could see him return to Madrid next season.

Meanwhile, Gutiérrez has left the club on a permanent basis and is now playing for Girona. The full-back has played a fundamental role in Girona’s impressive season and his performances have attracted interest from various clubs in Europe.

However, Madrid again retain some of the player’s sporting rights, alongside an €8 buy-back clause. The club may look to activate this clause if they are unable to get a deal over the line for Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Carlo Ancelotti has praised Rafa Marín for his efforts this season and also left the door open for the departed Blanco and Gutiérrez.

He said: “For sure he did very well did season, he’s been very good.

“I can say the same Antonio Blanco and Miguel Gutiérrez, having minutes outside is very important for a possible future at Real Madrid.”
