Real Madrid boss Ancelotti provides Vinícius Jr. injury update

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has provided an update on the wellbeing of star winger Vinícius Jr.

This comes after the Brazilian departed the club’s most recent outing prematurely.

Real Madrid were of course back in action on Wednesday night, making the short trip across Spain’s capital for a crunch Champions League clash with city rivals Atlético.

And though Los Blancos ultimately advanced to the competition’s quarter-finals by way of a penalty shootout triumph, the aforementioned Vinícius endured something of an outing to forget.

Struggling to impact proceedings in any sort of positive manner, the 24-year-old was snuffed out time and time again by Atlético’s defenders, before also missing an important penalty.

And yet, with his teammates having remained in desperate search of an equaliser on the night, it nevertheless came as a surprise when Vinícius was hauled off by boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Speaking to the media on Friday, the subject of a possible fitness issue on the part of his attacking talisman was, in turn, put to Real’s headmaster.

Ancelotti, however, was quick to assure:

“Vinícius needed more rest… but he will be available tomorrow, no problem. For me he’s an indisputable player for us. Viní remains absolutely key.”
