Real Madrid announce midfielder’s return in squad to face Villarreal

Real Madrid announced their squad to face Villarreal on Friday afternoon and with it comes the return of one of their midfielders from injury.

This is the only change from the squad which was picked for the tie against Lille, as Carlo Ancelotti has otherwise picked an unchanged group of players.

The returning player is Dani Ceballos, who has been out since September 1st when he suffered an ankle injury in his side’s clash against Real Betis.

Thibaut Courtois, Brahim Díaz and David Alaba remain out of the Real Madrid squad due to injury.

Real Madrid head into Saturday’s clash off the back of a 1-0 loss midweek against Lille in the Champions League while Villarreal won 3-1 against Las Palmas on Monday evening.

In their last action in La Liga meanwhile, Real Madrid drew 1-1 with city rivals Atlético Madrid on Sunday night in the Estadio Metropolitano.

This represents five matches without a clean sheet for Los Blancos, so Ancelotti will be hopeful of seeing a better defensive display against Villarreal.
