Real Betis youngster Félix Garreta in critical condition in hospital: Football community rallies in support


Some sad news comes from the Spanish football community on Friday as reports have emerged that Real Betis’ Félix Garreta remains in a medically induced coma in critical condition after suffering from a fall at home.

The Betis centre-back, on loan this season at Amorebieta, is currently hospitalized in critical condition.

Canal Sur reported that the defender is in a medically induced coma in the ICU, a fact confirmed by Amorebieta, who have released a medical report:

The Sociedad Deportiva Amorebieta reports that footballer Félix Martí Garreta recently suffered head trauma from a fall at home. The player, on loan from Real Betis, is hospitalized pending medical evaluation. The club maintains constant contact with the player’s family and his parent club.”

Félix Garreta, who turned 20 on April 21st, has had an impressive season at Amorebieta, featuring in 31 league matches (four goals and an assist in 2,492 minutes) plus two cup matches (180 minutes). His return to Betis this summer was highly anticipated for preseason training under Manuel Pellegrini.

Betis closely monitors the player’s medical progress and has extended support to Félix and his family.
