Real Betis are keen to sign Houssem Aouar, report Estadio Deportivo.
The Frenchman was linked with a move to Los Verdiblancos throughout the summer transfer window, however, no deal was struck between the Andalucían side and Lyon. Real Betis were not in the financial position to meet the French club’s €15m asking price, nor did they have space for the 24-year-old in their wage bill.
Aouar’s contract with Lyon is set to expire in June 2023 and it appears as though he is not interested in extending his stay at the club.
The midfielder will be able to sign pre-contractual agreements with other clubs from January onwards and Real Betis are keen to secure his services.
With the clock ticking, Lyon may be willing to let go of Aouar at a slashed price so that they receive some form of financial compensation for his departure.
At Real Betis, Aouar would be able to reunite with former Lyon teammate Nabil Fekir.
