Real Betis-Sevilla Copa del Rey tie suspended

The Copa del Rey last 16 clash between Real Betis and Sevilla was suspended, after an object thrown from the stands at the Benito Villamarín stadium hit Sevilla player Joan Jordán on the head.

The game came to a halt just before half-time, as Nabil Fekir celebrated with his team-mates and a plastic object hit Jordán, who fell to the ground. Fekir’s equaliser for the home side was scored directly from a corner.

Papu Gómez had given Sevilla the lead with a fine 20-yard strike on 35 minutes.

It remains to be seen when the game will be rescheduled for and it could be played behind closed doors or at a different venue.
