As reported by AS, since Real Betis’ loss against Rangers in the Europa League at the end of September, the side from Sevilla have gone ten games without a single defeat in all competitions, putting them 6th in the league table and at the top of their Europa League group.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side saw off Mallorca at the weekend by two goals to nil to put Betis in the European spots. While they are not quite the team they have been for the last couple of seasons, they have found a consistency that is hard for any team to beat.
“We are where we hoped to be,” said Pellegrini, highlighting the positive response of the team after their poor start to the league campaign. The steady Willian José and the excellent Isco have helped to propel Betis into a comfortable situation, while playmaker Nabil Fekir also appeared for the final few minutes in the game against Mallorca, coming back from an injury that sidelined him for eight months.
Betis’ next game is the derby away from home against city rivals Sevilla, who are currently struggling in 15th place.
