Real Betis’ Juanmi out with torn ankle ligaments

As communicated by Mundo Deportivo, Juanmi has torn his ankle ligaments and is set to be sidelined for several months.

The 29-year-old came off injured on a stretcher in Real Betis’ Europa League match against HJK Helsinki last week.

According to the diagnosis based on several tests, Juanmi has torn his ankle ligaments. He will visit another medical specialist this week to agree on the treatment plan to be carried out. Based on the injury, Juanmi will probably have to undergo surgery as part of the recovery process.

He will definitely not make an appearance again in 2022 and medical staff will keep an eye on his progress to see whether he could play in 2023. Due to the length of the injury, Juanmi will benefit from the World Cup being shifted to November and December later this year as La Liga will go on a break during that period.
