Real Betis injury update ahead of Seville derby

An update on the fitness of Real Betis squad has been provided ahead of the league encounter with 15th-placed Sevilla this weekend. This season the Betis squad, which was already depleted due to Nabil Fakir’s long-term injury from last season, has faced several setbacks with multiple key players facing spells on the sidelines with various injuries.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini wanted to have a bigger squad so that his side could be competitive in all competitions and prevent injury setbacks from affecting team cohesion and performance. Betis may be forced into looking at opportunities in the upcoming winter transfer market due to the severity of injuries in defence.

As reported by Relevo, Pellegrini currently has four crucial players who will certainly miss the clash with eternal rivals Sevilla. Centre-back Marc Bartra is set to undergo surgery for a partial rupture of the Achilles tendon in his right foot and will be out for several months, while Youssouf Sabaly is out again after suffering a knee injury. The full-back is estimated to return in four to six weeks.

Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Silva has a hamstring issue but will return after the international break and Claudio Bravo failed a late fitness test which will see him miss the next league match. On the other hand, Fekir was called up for the first time after 254 days in the last league game and is available to feature again this weekend.
