Rayo Vallecano refuse to attend training in wage protest

Rayo Vallecano players refused to turn up for training on Monday over the ERTE applied to all of the club’s workers, according to Marca.

The Segunda Division club applied for an ERTE – Spain’s temporary redundancy scheme – however, head coach Paco Jémez disagrees with the decision, owing to the club’s current financial situation.

Jémez backed the decision of the players to train at home and recently said: “For a club with €19m in earnings, it needs to have the balls to pay its employees.”

The players were given tailored training programs to carry out from their homes.
