Rayo Vallecano pair to miss Celta Vigo clash through suspension

Two high-profile members of the first-team setup at Rayo Vallecano will play no part in the club’s next outing.

Rayo, of course, were back in action this past weekend, setting sights on a much-needed return to winning ways in a La Liga meeting with Real Betis.

And, when all was said and done at the Estadio de Vallecas, this is precisely what Iñigo Pérez’s troops managed, courtesy of an impressive 2-0 triumph.

An otherwise positive day’s work for Rayo on Sunday, however, was soured by a pair of blows on the personnel front.

This came after Raúl de Tomás and Florian Lejeune were booked either side of the interval.

Both players have now racked up five yellow cards over the course of the La Liga campaign to date, giving rise to an automatic one-match suspension.

The Franjirrojos pair will, as a result, be unavailable for selection to boss Iñigo when their side return to action in a clash with Celta Vigo on the far side of the international break.
