Raphinha’s attitude a cause for concern at Barcelona

Raphinha’s public displays of anger have not gone down well with the Barcelona coaching staff, report Mundo Deportivo.

The player was furious after Xavi took him off after 87 minutes against Getafe, and his attitude didn’t go down well with the coaches and several of his team-mates, who believe that the Brazilian is going too far with his public frustration.

Xavi tried not to add fuel to the fire when he was asked in Getafe about Raphinha’s attitude and said, “I tell the players that you have to get angry first with yourself and then with the coach”.

The Brazilian’s attitude reportedly goes against the idea of “family” with which Xavi wants his players to relate to each other, looking at the group over the individual.

Raphinha showed his anger against Manchester United

It’s not the first time the former Leeds player has acted in frustration. After being substituted by Xavi in the Europa League match against Manchester United, in the 83rd minute, he kicked the drinks cooler and punched a seat on the bench.

The kick to the cooler reportedly caused him to later suffer from a sore knee and he was unable to start the match against Cádiz.

“The last time I got angry I said I would try to make it be the last time, but it’s difficult. You like to be on the pitch and help the team win. We needed a goal to get the win. It’s normal to be angry,” he said after the match in Getafe, trying to justify his attitude.

This season he has contributed 9 goals and 9 assists in 41 games.
