Rafa Benítez guides Celta Vigo to an unwanted record

Celta Vigo continue to struggle in La Liga and find themselves in a relegation position with only five points and a single victory. It is thought that the tenure of Rafa Benítez is now hanging by a thread, according to ED.

The arrival of Benítez initially brought a surge of enthusiasm among the fans, given his international coaching experience and prestigious achievements like winning the Champions League. However, his first few months in charge have been far from successful.

Celta currently sit in 18th place in La Liga. Their recent late collapse against Las Palmas proved to be the breaking point for the Madrid coach as his side conceded an 84th minute equaliser and then a 97th minute goal to lose the game 2-1 to the newly-promoted side.

The Galician club’s poor start to the season has equalled an unwanted record of collecting just five points from the opening eight league games. Benítez has now guided Celta to their joint-worst start in thirty years.
