PSG worried about key player ahead of Barcelona showdown

Concern is mounting within the camp at Paris Saint-Germain, when it comes to the form of a key member of Luis Enrique’s squad.

As much comes ahead of the French champions’ impending showdown with La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.

PSG will of course make the trip to Catalunya on Tuesday evening, for the 2nd leg of the club’s Champions League quarter-final tie with Xavi’s Barca.

Facing up to a 3-2 deficit after the tie’s opener at the Parc des Princes, the capital outfit will no doubt require a top-notch performance, in their hopes of turning things around to march on to the competition’s final-4.

It will therefore come as a worry for all associated with PSG to hear that confidence in a key member of Luis Enrique’s ranks is beginning to falter.

The player in question? Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Italian shot-stopper Donnarumma’s exploits on the continent have long drawn heavy scrutiny in the French media, with the former AC Milan man having played an unwanted role in his side being sent packing from the Champions League on more than one occasion in the past.

Donnarumma’s failure to command his penalty area en route to Andreas Christensen’s result-deciding header in Paris last week therefore saw ‘alarm bells’ set ringing once more.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who reiterate that the 25-year-old has ‘unleashed nervousness’ behind the scenes at PSG.

It now remains to be seen whether Donnarumma can put the lasting doubts over his continental pedigree to bed once and for all…
