The powers that be at French giants Paris Saint-Germain have let it be known that they intend to benefit financially as best they can from the impending exit of star man Kylian Mbappé.
The news which shook French football to its very core, of course, was forthcoming on Thursday evening.
This came upon widespread confirmation surfacing that the aforementioned Kylian Mbappé had informed PSG of his decision not to renew his contract, ahead of its impending expiration in the summer.
This, in turn, means that the 25-year-old will depart the Parc des Princes on a free transfer, with Spanish giants Real Madrid the runaway favourites for his signature.
Mbappé’s decision is understood to have been communicated to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi during a lengthy meeting between the pair this past Tuesday.
During the discussion, according to The Athletic, both football and personal affairs were brought to the fore.
Another significant takeaway from the talks, though, came in the form of a request laid out by Al-Khelaifi to his side’s long-time talisman.
Reiterating his stance on the monetary aspect of Mbappé’s departure, PSG’s owner asked for the attacker ‘to either make financial sacrifices, or give part of the signing-on bonus paid by his new club, which PSG expect will be Real Madrid, back to PSG when he leaves.’
