PSG to offer Lionel Messi a new contract to deter interest from Barcelona

PSG are planning to offer Lionel Messi a new contract in order to deter Barcelona’s interest in signing the Argentine forward, report AS.

Earlier in October it was communicated that Barcelona are keen on bringing back Messi to the Camp Nou next season. It is believed that the club would have put behind their financial troubles by the time the transfer window would roll around next summer.

Despite the 35-year-old already having a clause in his contract with the French champions that could mean that his deal could be extended by one more season, PSG are keen to offer Messi a new deal that could tie him down with the club until 2025.

PSG’s management are planning to offer Messi a new contract after the World Cup that could see him play in Ligue 1 until at least June 2024, with the option of extending it by a further year.
