PSG identify leading target to replace outbound Kylian Mbappé

An insight into the plans of the powers that be at Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain to replace the outgoing Kylian Mbappé has been provided late this evening.

The info comes courtesy of transfer insider David Ornstein of The Athletic, who points towards one of European football’s most highly sought after attackers as being firmly in the sights of the Parisians.

The player in question? Victor Osimhen.

It is of course public knowledge that PSG are now on the lookout for reinforcements up top with a view to next season.

This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that Kylian Mbappé has at long last informed the Parc des Princes brass of his decision to depart upon the conclusion of his contract in the summer.

The 25-year-old, in turn, is widely expected to put pen to paper on terms with La Liga leaders Real Madrid.

PSG are evidently not ready to cry over spilled milk, though, having tonight gotten straight back to work in their search for Mbappé’s replacement.

And, as per the aforementioned Ornstein, Napoli star Osimhen features prominently on the capital giants’ shortlist:

‘Nigeria international Osimhen, 24, has emerged as a leading candidate to replace Mbappe at PSG, with the club weighing up a transfer approach this summer.’

Hitman Osimhen, for his part, recently hinted at his readiness for a new challenge, having become unsettled just a season on from playing a central role in Napoli’s march to the Scudetto title.

Any deal for his services, though, would set PSG back a premium sum, with Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis a notoriously tough negotiator, and Osimhen considered an absolutely integral member of Walter Mazzarri’s squad.
