Vinícius Júnior will not play against Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday night in the midst of the controversy over the racial abuse he suffered at Mestalla on Sunday.
Vinícius will not feature even though he is no longer suspended after his red card from the Valencia game was rescinded. The Brazilian had already been left out of Madrid’s matchday squad on Tuesday.
A knee injury will see Vinícius miss the La Liga match against Rayo but the Bernabéu will have a banner against racism in support of the Brazil international.
Carlo Ancelotti will have to change his side ahead of the clash with Andoni Iraola’s men. The Italian coach is likely to start Rodrygo in place of Vinícius and the right-wing spot could be occupied by the versatile Fede Valverde.
Possible Real Madrid XI vs Rayo Vallecano:
Courtois – Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Nacho – Camavinga, Modric, Kroos – Valverde, Benzema, Rodrygo. (AS)
Kick-off at the Bernabéu gets underway at 7.30 pm local time.
