Thibaut Courtois has been ruled out of Real Madrid’s game against Girona on Tuesday. According to a club statement, the Belgian woke up with gastroenteritis and will remain in the capital to recover.
In his place, reserve team goalkeeper Mario de Luis has been included in the matchday squad, and Andrey Lunin will now start between the sticks.
In Girona, Lunin will play in his twelfth game of the season. He has kept four clean sheets and conceded nine goals.
Rodrygo, who scored a brace against Chelsea last week, is set to lead the line for Madrid in place of Karim Benzema, who will be rested with a busy schedule coming up for Los Blancos.
Aurélien Tchouaméni could start in midfield alongside Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić, who were both rested in the weekend win over Celta Vigo.
