Predicted Barcelona XI vs Athletic Club

Robert Lewandowski has been cleared to play against Athletic Club on Sunday, and according to head coach Xavi, he has a good chance of starting the game.

“He is feeling very good. He is an example of commitment; he always wants to play. He is different and has changed the mentality of the team. It was good for us that he came here and he is a vital addition [to the team]. And even more so in matches like this, when they’ll be pressing us high. It’s fundamental to have Robert and he’s doing well,” said Xavi.

One change to the team will be forced by suspension. Ronald Araújo will miss the game and his place is likely to be taken by Marcos Alonso. The centre-back from Madrid is expected to get the nod over Eric García, while Alejandro Balde will likely play at left-back in place of Jordi Alba.

Elsewhere, Xavi will bring back Gavi, who missed the Valencia game through suspension, and Franck Kessié could come in for Sergi Roberto in a midfield four. In attack, it looks like Raphinha and Lewandowski will start.

Possible Barcelona XI vs Athletic Club

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona could line out as follows against Athletic:

Ter Stegen – Koundé, Christensen, Alonso, Balde – Busquets, De Jong, Kessié – Raphinha, Lewandowski, Gavi.
