Possible Real Madrid XI vs Celtic

Real Madrid travel to Glasgow to take on Celtic on matchday one of the 2022-23 Champions League group stage.

Los Blancos will be looking for their first win of the new campaign as they look to retain the title.

Álvaro Odriozola and Jesús Vallejo will miss out due to injury and are the only two players not travelling with the club.

The last time Real Madrid visited Celtic was 42 years ago, in the 1979-1980 season. That Madrid side managed to come back from a 2-0 defeat to the Scots at the Bernabéu.

A 3-0 win in the second leg saw the Madrid side qualify for the semi-finals of the European Cup.

Possible Real Madrid starting XI vs Celtic (AS):

Courtois – Lucas Vázquez, Militão, Rüdiger, Mendy – Modric or Ceballos, Tchouaméni, Kroos – Valverde, Benzema, Vinicius.

Carlo Ancelotti has travelled to Glasgow with a 22-man squad.

Lunin, Luis López, Carvajal, Nacho, Alaba, Camavinga, Ceballos or Modric, Rodrygo, Asensio, Hazard and Mariano are the remaining members of the Madrid squad.
