When all was said and done, the evening’s hosts emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result, owing to goals on the part of Kylian Mbappé, and that man Vinícius.
The latter’s strike proved a particularly memorable one, with the Brazilian having conjured up a moment of individual brilliance, to dance his way beyond a series of defenders, before slotting home in style.
And as alluded to above, one individual on whom such excellence was not at all lost was Carlo Ancelotti.
