A photo of a member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has today gone viral across social media.
This comes owing to his presence in the thick of the Copa del Rey title celebrations of Athletic Club.
The player in question? Iñigo Martínez.
Iñigo, for his part, brought a close to the Athletic chapter of his career last summer, departing the Basque country on a free transfer to link up with Xavi’s Barcelona.
Evidently, though, the stopper maintains strong ties with his former employers.
After word was forthcoming on Thursday that Iñigo had requested leave from the Barcelona camp to make his way to Bilbao, his wish was soon granted.
The 32-year-old, in turn, made use of his personal boat, to join Ernesto Valverde’s squad in their highly-anticipated La Gabarra festivities.
Athletic, last weekend, brought to an end a 40-year silverware drought, courtesy of a penalty shootout downing of RCD Mallorca in the Copa finale.
And, fully aware of what a special occasion was in store in the city he called home for five years, Iñigo, as showcased below, was spotted amongst the chaos in Bilbao, with an Athletic Club flag firmly in hand:
