Pep Guardiola provides fresh Kyle Walker injury update before Real Madrid

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has on Tuesday provided a fresh insight into the wellbeing of defensive star Kyle Walker.

Stopper Walker, of course, was forced to sit out last week, as City battled their way to a 3-3 stalemate in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final showdown with La Liga leaders Real Madrid.

The England international was included in the Sky Blues’ Premier League squad to face Luton Town on Saturday, but failed to get off the bench over the 90 minutes.

Ahead of welcoming Carlo Ancelotti’s Real to The Etihad for the return leg of their continental tie tomorrow night, it therefore came as little surprise when Pep Guardiola was today asked for the latest on Walker’s wellbeing.

And, in a boost to City’s hopes of keeping the likes of Vinícius Jr. and Rodrygo quiet, the Spanish tactician went on to confirm that Walker ‘feels good’.

All going according to plan, the 33-year-old will in turn be in from the off on Wednesday:

“Kyle Walker? He trained good, he feels good. I think he will be with us tomorrow. We have the last training session at 4pm, then we decide.”
