Pep Guardiola needs an assistant and Xabi Alonso could be his man

Pep Guardiola is looking for a replacement for Mikel Arteta as his assistant at Manchester City and is looking to Real Sociedad B head coach Xabi Alonso, according to AS via Goal.

Mikel Arteta left to the role to become Arsenal’s head coach and with the position currently vacant, Guardiola is determined to find the right fit. The former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder visited Man City’s training ground in 2018, describing Guardiola as the best coach he has worked under, after their spell together at Bayern.

Arteta speaks highly of Alonso: “Now he is coaching Real Sociedad’s second team and he will be a great coach in the future. I’m sure of that.”
