According to a report produced by AS, Barcelona midfielder Pedri has seen his value on Transfermarkt rise by €43 million in just nine months.
Pedri, who only turned 18 in November, joined Barcelona from Las Palmas for €5 million in September 2019. At 16 years, eight months and 24 days, he became the second-youngest player to play an official game for Las Palmas.
In April of last year, when he was still a Las Palmas player, he was valued at €7.2 million. In October 2020, his value rose to €15 million and on November 23 it doubled, to €30 million after his outstanding performance for Barça in the Champions League against Juventus.
Today, his value on Transfermarkt stands at €50 million. At just 18, Pedri already looks like a senior player in the Barcelona team. Ronald Koeman is a big fan of the Spain U21 international, who has built a connection with Lionel Messi on and off the pitch.
In an interview with Catalan sports daily Sport, upon joining Barcelona, Pedri revealed: “Barcelona has always been my and my family’s team.”
Barça have been trying to replace Andrés Iniesta since he left for Japan in May 2018, perhaps in Pedri, they have their next Iniesta.
