Barcelona star Pedri has this week revealed his take that teammate Frenkie de Jong will soon return to his very best form.
Midfielder De Jong is for his part of course continuing to work his way back towards full fitness at present.
After a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury, the 27-year-old at last marked his return to the pitch early last month.
De Jong has since been handed an increasingly prominent role, the highlight of which came against Real Madrid in the season’s first El Clásico late in October.
Introduced to proceedings at the interval in Spain’s capital, the former Ajax man shone bright, providing the visitors with some needed control in the middle of the park en route to an eventual 4-0 rout.
And one player of the opinion that as much made clear that De Jong is closing on his very best form comes in the form of the aforementioned Pedri.
Speaking in an interview with La Liga, as cited by Diario Sport, this week, Pedri was drawn on Barca’s latest Bernabéu triumph.
And the 21-year-old went on to explain:
“The defensive line was very good, we had it very organised and it was working. [We were] calm with the ball and Frenkie’s entry changed the game. With the ball he gives you a lot and I’m very happy that he’s getting his level and we’re going to see the best Frenkie for sure.”
