Pedri put through anti-doping test after Barcelona’s clash with Napoli

Barcelona star Pedri was selected for an anti-doping test on the back of the club’s meeting with Napoli, it has been confirmed.

Barca, and Pedri, were of course back in action on Wednesday night.

In their first outing in the knockout rounds of the Champions League since 2021, the Blaugrana made the trip to Italy, for a first leg meeting with Serie A champions Napoli.

When all was said and done, Xavi and co. were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, after Robert Lewandowski’s opener was cancelled out at the other end by Victor Osimhen.

The aforementioned Pedri, meanwhile, played a pivotal role on the night, notching the assist for Barcelona’s only goal amid a solid showing in the middle of the park.

Post-match, the 21-year-old was then the man chosen to undergo an anti-doping test at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

As confirmed by The Athletic, Pedri was ‘randomly selected’ by UEFA to be checked for any form of performance-enhancing aid.

The assumption, of course, is that the results came back clean.
