Pedri hails ‘spectacular’ Barcelona teammate before PSG clash

Barcelona star Pedri has on Monday moved to reveal his admiration for a fellow member of the midfield ranks at the club.

The player in question? İlkay Gündoğan.

German international Gündoğan of course made the move to Catalunya last summer, after allowing his contract with Premier League champions Manchester City to expire.

And the 33-year-old has since proven himself one of the star performers in Xavi’s squad.

A near ever-present in the middle of the park, Gündoğan has racked up a hefty 44 appearances across all competitions to date.

Not only that, but, along the way, the one-time Borussia Dortmund standout has notched five goals, and 11 assists.

Speaking to the media ahead of Barcelona’s impending Champions League quarter-final 2nd-leg showdown with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, the subject of Gündoğan’s impact at the club was in turn put to the aforementioned Pedri.

And, in his response, the 21-year-old could not have been more complimentary:

“Gündogan? He’s a spectacular player. I see him in training every day and he’s incredible. When it comes to game time, everyone has seen what he’s capable of.”
