Updates on the fitness of Barcelona pair Pedri and Frenkie de Jong have been provided on Thursday evening.
This comes as Xavi Hernández’s troops prepare to return to action on Saturday night, in a La Liga showdown with Real Sociedad.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, De Jong, for one, is unlikely to be available for selection.
The Dutch international has been sidelined with an ankle injury since September and it remains to be seen whether he could recover in time to take his place on the bench for next week’s Champions League meeting with Shakhtar Donetsk.
Pedri latest
The news surrounding midfield partner in crime Pedri, on the other hand, is of an altogether more encouraging nature.
Pedri, too, has been sidelined long-term, owing to a thigh issue suffered all the way back in August.
The Spanish international has ramped up his recovery of late, though, and has been spotted back alongside the rest of Xavi’s squad at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
MD therefore report that Pedri is expected to mark his long-awaited return to matchday duties at the Reale Arena in two days’ time.
