Pau Cubarsí injury update after Barcelona’s win over Red Star

An update on the wellbeing of Barcelona star Pau Cubarsí has come to the fore online late on Wednesday.

This comes after the young defender was forced into a premature departure from the club’s latest outing.

Barcelona of course marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to Serbia for a Champions League meeting with Red Star Belgrade.

When all was said and done, Hansi Flick’s troops kept alive what has been a scintillating stretch of recent form, courtesy of a 5-2 triumph.

En route to as much, though, one source of concern was also forthcoming, on the personnel front.

This came early in the 2nd-half, when the aforementioned Pau Cubarsí was the recipient of a kick to the face in the hosts’ penalty area.

The 17-year-old was left with a nasty gash from the collision, which forced Barcelona’s medical team into action, and Cubarsí into a premature departure.

As confirmed by Mundo Deportivo, though, all is now well with the Blaugrana’s defensive prodigy, amid the following update on the situation:

‘Doctor Pruna had to rush onto the pitch and, after stopping the bleeding caused by Cubarsí’s wound, they both went to the changing room. Once there, the Barça doctor had to apply ten stitches to the wound to close it.’
