Pau Cubarsí broke a record held by Real Madrid’s David Alaba in Barcelona vs Napoli

Barcelona starlet Pau Cubarsí has this evening etched his name ever further into the history books of European football.

As much comes after the stopper was afforded a starting berth in Barca’s highly-anticipated showdown with Napoli.

Xavi and co. are of course currently locked in action with the Italian champions, in the 2nd leg of the Champions League Last-16 tie between the clubs.

The Blaugrana boast a narrow advantage as things stand, albeit with Amir Rrahmani’s fine finish late in the first-half having ensured that Napoli remain very much in with a shot of booking a quarter-final berth.

Enjoying another fine night on the Barcelona side of things, meanwhile, comes the aforementioned Pau Cubarsí.

The Spanish talent was afforded a starting berth at the heart of the hosts’ backline in Catalunya this evening, looking as composed as ever thus far, alongside defensive partner Ronald Araújo.

Not only that, but, in featuring from the off against Napoli, Cubarsí secured for himself a piece of history.

As revealed by statistician Mister Chip:

‘Pau Cubarsi is, as of today, the youngest player to make his debut in the UEFA Champions League in a knockout match’.

The defender, at 17 years and 50 days old, has broken the previous record held by Real Madrid’s David Alaba (17 years and 258 days).
