Supporters of La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Saturday come together to lavish praise on a member of the club’s defensive ranks, namely Álvaro Carreras.
José Mourinho’s troops are of course currently locked in action, on the domestic front. After being condemned to a first league defeat of the season last time out at Real Betis, Los Blancos have welcomed Rayo Vallecano to the Bernabéu.
The aforementioned Carreras was for his part in from the off for the evening, replacing Marc Cucurella at left-back.
And the Spaniard has since enjoyed an individual outing to remember. Carreras was first responsible for winning a penalty, subsequently converted by Kylian Mbappé to open the game’s scoring.
The former Benfica man then turned goalscorer himself, exchanging passes with Mbappé before slotting home a fine finish.
Carreras, all told, has been a constant threat down the hosts’ left, looking full of intent, with sights on first-choice left-back status in José Mourinho’s XI.
And such exploits have not gone at all unappreciated on the part of the Real Madrid faithful, who have flooded to social media to sing the praises of their side’s defensive star:
