Ousmane Dembélé situation: The ball is in Barcelona’s court

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Ousmane Dembélé has agreed personal terms with Barcelona and that it is now up to the Catalan club to decide on their next move.

Leeds winger Raphinha is also a part of the situation. The Brazilian player has been holding off on offers from Chelsea and Arsenal, with a move to Barça his preferred option.

Romano reports that  Barça’s bid for Raphinha has been improved in the last 24 hours, but they are still not matching the £60m Chelsea bid accepted by Leeds.

The saga involving the Frenchman has dragged on since late last year. Dembélé’s side have been in negotiations with the Blaugrana since 2021 but until now, he has never come close to an agreement. The 24-year-old is now officially a free agent and has no new offers except the one from the Catalan giants.

The player’s will has always been to stay but his agent’s demands derailed the negotiations on more than one occasion. Now, according to Relevo, the offer that is on the table for Dembélé is not a new one. It is the same one that was presented to him months back.

This would put him on the same wages as Ansu Fati, earning €6.5 million per season. The deal would keep him at Camp Nou until at least 2024.

Xavi has always been the key in these talks. The former player has reiterated his desire to see Dembélé continue at the club. As per Relevo, Xavi has pressured the board to keep the Frenchman in Barcelona.

Now, it is all up to Barça to decide and give the final green light.
