Osasuna chief provides update on future of boss Jagoba Arrasate

Osasuna president Luis Sabalza has on Sunday provided a fresh insight into the club’s plans for head coach Jagoba Arrasate.

The subject of tactician Arrasate’s future has of course long taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Pamplona.

As much comes with the Spaniard’s terms on the bench at El Sadar set to come to an end upon the season’s close.

The powers that be at Osasuna, as a result, have long been pushing their beloved headmaster to put pen to paper on an extension.

Arrasate, for his part, has held the reins at El Sadar for the last six seasons, making him one of the longest-serving managers in the club’s storied history.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, it therefore came as little surprise when Arrasate’s name, once more, was put to the aforementioned Luis Sabalza.

And in his response, the Osasuna chief reiterated his unwavering desire for the Rojillos’ boss to extend his terms, and stay put:

“I hope, I want and I wish that Arrasate will continue in Osasuna,” Sabalza began, as cited by Mundo Deportivo. “I said it at the Christmas lunch and I have not changed my mind, nor has the board of directors. Another thing is that he he may want to think about it, but we want him to continue with us. The only thing we want is for him to say it as soon as possible so that the sports management can do their job as soon as possible.”

Sabalza went on to add:

“We have not sat down to talk about temporality or money,” before concluding: “I don’t want to say that I’ll wait, but the board of directors want him to renew.”
