Oriol Romeu in talks over Barcelona exit

Out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Oriol Romeu could be in line for a late-window departure from the club.

That’s according to Turkish journalist Sercan Dikme of Sports Digitale, who has on Wednesday provided an exclusive insight into ongoings behind the scenes in Catalunya.

Barca, it is claimed, have been approached by Turkish giants Besiktas, over a January deal for the aforementioned Romeu.

As part of this approach, the Black Eagles went as far as to table an opening offer for the former Southampton man, too.

Significantly, it is added that Romeu himself is open to the prospect of taking his talents to Istanbul, with Xavi having made clear that he only intends to make use of his talents in cup outings.

It now remains to be seen whether an agreement is struck, with negotiations ongoing between all three parties.

Romeu, of course, made the move to Barcelona just last summer, in a cut-price deal from La Liga rivals Girona.

Initially, the move was viewed as a shrewd one on the part of the Blaugrana, as the 32-year-old settled back into life in Catalunya’s capital in fine fashion.

More recent months, however, have proven of an altogether less impressive nature, with Romeu having been bumped well down the engine room pecking order of headmaster Xavi.
