One Xavi selection call vs Real Madrid frustrated both Vitor Roque & Barcelona’s board

An insight into the unrest sparked at Barcelona by a personnel call made by head coach Xavi during the club’s recent meeting with Real Madrid has this week been provided.

Barca, of course, saw their slim remaining hopes of silverware for the campaign brought to an end at the hands of their arch rivals two weeks ago.

After making the trip to Spain’s capital for a La Liga showdown with arch rivals Real Madrid, a late collapse culminated in the Blaugrana being put to the sword by three goals to two.

This rounded out a hugely difficult week for all associated with Barcelona, which also saw the Catalans sent packing from the Champions League.

And, as alluded to above, en route to their eventual defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu, high-profile individuals amongst both the playing and backroom staff at the club were left hugely frustrated by the decision-making of headmaster Xavi.

That’s according to Relevo, who point towards the Spanish tactician’s call to introduce Ferran Torres in place of Robert Lewandowski as the change in question.

As much left the more natural centre-forward option of Vitor Roque stuck watching on from the bench once more.

The January arrival at Barca, in turn, was again left feeling slighted by his manager.

Not only that, but it also rubbed several in the Camp Nou boardroom the wrong way, whom it is claimed were left far from pleased with the selection decisions of their side’s manager.
