One in, one out: The latest on Real Madrid’s defensive crisis for Girona

A fresh insight into the ongoing personnel crisis facing Real Madrid at present has been forthcoming this afternoon.

The subject of injury woes has of course dominated the headlines in Spain’s capital over the course of the week to date.

This comes after Carlo Ancelotti’s Real squad was dealt a whole host of fresh blows, ahead of the club’s top-of-the-table La Liga showdown with Girona at the weekend.

The situation at the heart of Los Blancos’ backline is of particular concern, with long-term absentees David Alaba and Éder Militão having been joined on the sidelines by Antonio Rüdiger last time out.

Then, on Wednesday, word was forthcoming that Nacho had been forced to sit out training, owing to a sudden muscular overload.

As much left boss Ancelotti, at that point, with not a single fit senior central defender to call upon.

So, what is the latest word stemming from Valdebebas on Thursday?

Regarding Nacho, the news is less than positive, with mounting reports pointing towards the Spanish veteran as having been all but ruled out for Saturday.

Safe to say, then, that Antonio Rüdiger’s seemingly imminent return will mark an altogether timely one.

As per Carlos Rodríguez of Onda Madrid, the German international is primed to return to full training on Friday, with a view to being available for selection to face Girona.
